I just came from the hospital to visit a friend in the ICU. He is doing okay and doesn’t really remember what happened (he was hit by a car) and miraculously he is in pretty good shape considering. He has a few broken ribs though. When I looked at the board with all the treatments for him it said only one thing, Deep breathing Exercises. I was shocked! When I shot todays video I did not know that this would be an actual medical diagnosis for someone who had broken ribs! He explained that the deep breathing exercises were to give his body enough oxygen so he could heal.
Sounds too simple to be true right? But it’s TRUE! My years of Yoga Teacher training revolved around learning how to use different types of breath for different types of solutions. Today’s video is on how to do deep breathing. Concentrated Deep breathing is a form of meditation and the best part, ALWAYS available and FREE! Deep breathing can be done while sitting in a chair, working out, running, while driving (although you may want to wait til you hit a red light ;) while attending an event and ANY time you feel stress or anxiety coming on.
There have even been studies that controlled deep breathing can improve;
Peripheral vision when running
Blood flow/Reduced heart rate
Release of toxins
And much more!
